Organic cotton farming
The process begins with organically grown cotton. Farmers grow cotton without using harmful synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilisers, or genetically modified (GMO) seeds. Instead, they use natural farming methods that help protect the soil, water and surrounding environment.
Organic cotton is softer and gentler, making it ideal for babies’ sensitive skin.
Harvesting the cotton
Once the cotton plants mature, the cotton fibers are harvested. This can be done by hand or with machines, depending on the farm size and location.
After harvesting, the cotton is cleaned to remove dirt, leaves and seeds.
Spinning the cotton into yarn
The cleaned cotton fibers are spun into yarn. This step turns the raw cotton into strong, soft threads that will later be used to create fabric.
Making the fabric
The yarn is knitted or woven into fabric. Knitted fabrics are commonly used for baby clothes because they are soft, stretchy, breathable and comfortable for everyday wear.
Dyeing with baby safe colours
The fabric may be dyed using non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes that are safe for babies. Our manufacturers avoid harsh chemicals to keep the fabric soft and skin friendly.
Cutting and sewing the garments
The fabric is cut into patterns and sewn together to create baby clothing such as our zip sleepsuits, button pyjamas and two piece sets. Special care is taken to ensure soft seams, comfort and durability.
Quality and safety checks
All of our garments are carefully inspected for quality, sizing, stitching and safety. This helps ensure every piece is comfortable, durable and suitable for babies' sensitive skin.
Packaging and delivery
The finished baby clothes are folded, packaged and prepared for delivery. At Everley we use recyclable or eco-friendly packaging to support sustainable practices.
